Gau Seva

As an offering of devotion to Lord Krishna and inspired by Srila Prabhupada, we at Hare Krishna Mandir, Kota are tending to many cows within the temple premises. We provide them fresh grass, fodder, water, shelter, and care for them like our mothers.

Offer Gau Poshana Seva

Gau Seva is considered as one of the most revered services. Join us in our service for this humble being. Offer seva towards feeding the sacred cows and receive eternal blessings from Lord Krishna.

Lord Krishna’s care for cows

Lord Krishna is described as “namo brahmanya devaya go-brahmana hitaya ca” (Vishnu Purana 1.19.65), the well-wisher of cows. This was well-reflected in His care for cows as a cowherd boy in Vrindavana. In fact, Lord Krishna’s other names, Govinda and Gopala literally means, “friend and protector of cows”.

Srila Prabhupada’s teaching

Srila Prabhupada says, “Vedic civilization gives protection to all the living creatures, especially the cows, because they render such valuable service to human society in the shape of milk, without which no one can become healthy and strong.” (Letter to Rupanuga dasa, 7th December, 1975)

Whoever feeds the cow with grass and water every day derives the benefit equivalent to performing Ashwamedha Yajna. There is no doubt about this. (Brhat Parasara Smriti 5.26-27.)
